AFRADO builds and manages water systems for communities in 3 regions in Ghana. AFRADO runs post billing systems for household water connections and operates on a pre-paid card system for standpipes. AFRADO is currently piloting the installation of a new technology to detect leakages and increase reactivity in system maintenance, as well as testing differentiated tariffs based on the various customer segments.



AND MBEY is a social business that provides inputs to repurpose existing hydraulic infrastructure in rural areas, such as retention basins, in order to irrigate community agricultural plots and allow local farmers to produce in the off-season.



AQUAmoss is a Peruvian company formed by 3 young entrepreneurs dedicated to developing household filters for the purification of drinking water. AQUAmoss won the AQUATÓN competition of the Peruvian Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation in 2021 with its Ecofiltro Paccha, which combines the benefits of Peruvian flora, traditional pottery, and filtration principles.



ART-PESOUNG is a social business that builds affordable toilets at a household level using locally sourced materials. For the YWF pilot, Joséphine is testing her business model by installing her first toilets in a rural community.



Africa Group, co-founded by Jean Eudes, has launched Eau source de vie, an initiative to construct boreholes equipped with solar-powered pumps that can supply the most remote rural populations with clean drinking water.



To reduce the impact of seasonality on market gardens and to ensure a regular income for women farmers, Agreautech Team have developed an autonomous irrigation device with a solar drip system.



Agritopia for Agricultural Technology is an innovative Palestinian company specialized in providing agri-technology that improves resource efficiency by integrating automated systems in irrigation networks as well as offering fully automated vertical hydroponic solutions that are customized to each client's needs.

AiKite is a company based in Indonesia aiming to solve water issues in tin mining communities in Bangka, Indonesia. We produced BankSand, an innovative water filter made from local sand. Our mission is to turn mining wastewater into clean water for people. AiKite was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship in 2018.



Al-Amal Farm sells environmentally-grown fruits and vegetables to the local community as well as the local/regional market. The groceries the farm offers is unique, as it is grown in healthy environments, which is free from toxins and chemicals while preserving fertile soil rich in living organisms.



Aljuli Engineering Limited is involved in the design of water reticulation systems; connection of customers to external water sources including rainwater harvesting, municipal, private or/and community water service providers; a collection of the wastewater after use; treatment solutions for the wastewater; and disposal of the treated water either in the environment or for re-use.



Aqua Clara Kenya (ACK) is a B Corporation certified social enterprise that designs and distributes Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) solutions across East Africa. ACK uses mobile software and mobile money to enable its customers, a majority who live at the BoP, to pay for products in installments.



Aqualit is based in Mexico tackles technical and logistical challenges in controlling wastewater parameters by providing a real-time monitoring system. The main objectives are to raise awareness of the importance of wastewater treatment and to develop a reliable database of public information on water management. Aqualit was part of the Junior ReSource Fellowship in 2017.



At Arena Recycling we engage people in the collection of plastic waste from different areas of the city and beaches, to make Eco-bricks for construction. Our solution not only contributes to plastic-free beaches and waterways, but also helps bridge the water and sanitation gap by constructing water tanks and latrines with our Eco-bricks.Arena Recycling was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship 2019.



Asokore Mampong produces concrete slabs for sanitation facilities in Kumasi and Accra. Asokore Mampong is currently expanding its market reach beyond Accra and Kumasi to other underserved locations, especially rural areas such Obuasi and Sunyani. It offers a smooth, streamlined process for bio-digesters construction companies, saving a significant construction time. Asokore Mampong aims at getting a certification from the Ghana Standard Authority to position itself as a leader in the production of high-quality concrete slabs.



Aveola, founded by Landry, is a startup that focuses on waste recycling and the production of various chemical products for sanitation solutions. One of their work activities include O’viv, an urban and aquatic sanitation initiative that collects plastic pollutants and transforms them into ecological, solar-powered public toilets featuring a nanoparticle cleaning and ultra-violet disinfection.

BIOwayste is a decentralised small-scale system that allows the conversion of organic waste such as food waste into biogas and bio-fertiliser. It offers a green and effective approach to benefit from food waste, while increasing sustainability and reducing socio-economic and environmental impact. A user friendly, low cost and low-tech system, BIOwayste will minimise the percentage of food wasted leading to a reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions to up to 40% annually.



Benaa is a not-for-profit organization that aims at building up the youth capacities, in order to build up sustainable development projects, and create an interactive enabling environment in the MENA region.



BetterLife is a social enterprise which aims to take the burden of sanitation and hygiene off the shoulders of Nigerian citizens via the construction of Hygiene Hubs at strategic locations in urban slums. Hygiene Hubs are a fusion of dignified public sanitation facility and health booth. BetterLife was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship 2019.



Blue Filter is a company specialized in producing natural filters for water purification from nitrates and other harmful substances without the use of chemical additives or the need for energy. Blue Filter uses environmental friendly materials in its products. The list of provided services includes: awareness campaigns, online and offline water quality tests, and water purification materials. The products and services are tailored to meet the customer needs and wishes.



Blue-Grey Aqua Technology (BGAT) specializes in building, installing, operating, and maintaining innovative modular potable water systems in distressed communities. BGAT develops affordable water treatment protocols, including the removal of topical water contaminants. BGAT aims at becoming a model utility company serving rural and peri-urban communities in Africa, offering services from research, design, construction supervision, operations, and maintenance that ensure practical and timely solutions for sustainable water management.



Founded in 2018 by Semukoteka Abubaker, is a dynamic social enterprise that specializes in high-quality latrine emptying services across Uganda, addressing sanitation challenges through innovative gulper technology and offering a wide range of sanitation-related services in both urban and rural areas. BSUL services include toilet emptying using both cesspool trucks and gulping technology, soak pit setting, soak pit upgrading, soak pit construction, plumbing works, construction of toilets, construction of septic tanks, consultancy works, supply of sanitation equipment, and compound design.



Brooms Ltd is a portable toilet rental company offering a range of toileting facilities for construction sites and events as well as exhauster services. The sanitation company is based in Nairobi and Mombasa.



CASA (Ciudades Autosostenibles Amazónicas) is a team of three Peruvian architects dedicated to developing housing solutions and essential services in jungle areas of Peru. CASA developed the technology of water walls. PVC pipes form the walls of the infrastructure, allowing the storage of well water or rainwater. With its easy-to-assemble dry toilet module, CASA won the AQUATÓN competition of the Peruvian Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation in 2021. Thanks to this, they were able to implement the CASA module in the Asentamiento Humano 31 de Agosto, district of San Juan Bautista, province of Maynas in Loreto.



Cassa provides sustainable social housing with clean water, clean energy and sanitation in rural and urban areas of Guatemala. The organization helps its customers acquire vital services, save money, and protect the environment, specifically Guatemala’s forests and water bodies.



CMMartinho Consulting aims at contributing to universal access to safe water and sanitation, delivering services such as water safety plans and sanitation safety planning.



CPlantae Saneamiento de Agua is a Mexican engineering firm specialized in nature-based solutions for wastewater management and aquatic bodies restoration. We harness the power of plants and earthworms to improve lives. CPlantae was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship in 2018.

Carpa is a startup that uses innovative aquaponic systems to produce carp fish and vegetables, like eggplants, and bell pepper to its clients. The systems are very friendly to the environment and integrate technology and clean energy sources to operate them.



Clean Team Ghana (CTG) delivers vital in-home sanitation services to low-income residents. CTG provides container-based services whereby the customer pays a monthly service fee and the waste is removed from the home regularly by their waste collection team. CTG is currently piloting the development of a bio-digester offer in new markets, especially Obuasi, by installing bio-digester toilets through a credit financing model. This approach enables Clean Team Ghana to provide credit financing for the construction of bio-digester toilets and facilitate repayment over six months, ensuring affordability and accessibility for beneficiaries.



Clean Water for All is a company focussed on social impact that installs water kiosks using UV technology to filter the polluted waters of Lake Guiers and distribute it to the local communities at minimal cost. During the YWF pilot project, local women will be trained to manage the first such kiosk.



Clean2O is a portable water treatment device that purifies water from biological, physical, and chemical pollutants in an affordable manner. The device is designed and manufactured by Lebanese youth. They target entities which work with refugees, but also hikers and campers are on the list. With Clean2O device a 500 liters of water cost 8$. In addition to that, they raise awareness through workshops about water situation in Lebanon.



This social entrepreneurial initiative brings a new type of food production to Zambia. The aquaponic system combines horticulture with fish production and reaches an increase in water and nutrient efficiency. The system creates employment opportunities for local farmers and improves the produce supply in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2018, Cewas began supporting Compost Baladi's journey with their first training on Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management (SSWM). This collaboration has provided Compost Baladi with access to essential technical and financial support and a network of industry experts.



CrustaTec is a Guatemalan company that produces a biopolymer made of shrimp shell waste, discarded by the industry, which can be used to remove textile dyes from wastewater. The chitosan biopolymer contained in the crustacean`s shell is an ideal absorbent and floculant for the dyes as it is non-toxic, biodegradable and also allows to recover the dyes for reuse. Since it is low-cost, it can be used by both large and small textile industries. CrustaTec was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship in 2018.

GoSoft provides smart solutions to reduce production and transmission losses through accurate billing, meter provision and management with supporting device control with analytics through its Internet of Things (IIoT) based platform. Customer segment: Water Service Providers (WSPs), Private Developers, Landlords, Community Water Distributors Unique aspects & innovative potential: Data management and visualisation solution to decrease inefficiencies in rural water management, engagement of stakeholders across sectors to provide tailored solutions to unique customer environments.



CUBEX SAL is a specialized waste management consultancy firm with a focus on resource-oriented biowaste management practices anchored in environmental responsibility, practicality and economic viability. With expertise in fecal sludge management, CUBEX aims to prevent septic sludge from ending up in waterways through reducing its accumulation and recovering it in a solid state as a source of revenues feeding operational expenses. Product and Innovation CUBEX started out with Household level decentralized sanitation systems, however due to the lack of incentives for households to purchase such systems, it focused its research and development on Decantra, a mobile servicing technology that aimed to reduce transportation costs from septic systems by processing the wastewater on-site and recovering the solids for integration into a composting operation. CUBEX also executed several projects revolving around fecal sludge characterisation and de-watering, mainly with Eawag, and gained extensive experience in non-collective sanitation and sludge management.. Achievements and Impact The business supported the operation of the emergency omni-processor system in Iaat-Lebanon, implemented by UNICEF to alleviate the load of wastewater from informal settlement into centralised WWTPs and validate the recovery of safe bio-solids for reuse. Currently, the company focuses on consulting for donor agencies, NGOs and municipalities in the waste and wastewater sector and is implementing a project to provide a comprehensive understanding to community members on wastewater treatment to strengthen the local municipal and private sector's capacity to manage non-collective sanitation systems and ensure proper maintenance and sustainable operations.

Cultiva generates impact by promoting sustainable agriculture practices, forest conservation, waste reduction, and community development. Our biodegradable fabric grow pots are an innovative solution to plastic pots and help reduce plastic waste. Our use of agriculture and forestry waste to produce potting soil helps reduce waste and supports sustainable farming practices. By providing an additional income for rural women through waste collection and sewing fabric grow pots, we are supporting local communities and promoting economic development. We also provide affordable potting soil to farmers, which helps improve the health and yield of their crops. We measure our impact through various metrics, such as the amount of waste collected, the number of rural women employed, the amount of potting soil sold, and the health and yield of crops grown using our products. We also monitor the positive environmental impact of our products, such as the reduction of plastic waste and the promotion of sustainable agriculture practices.



DANi Hydro-Drill (DHD) is initially a borehole drilling and maintenance enterprise. It is currently transitioning to become a water system operator. DHD is extending the scope of its activities and piloting a Rehabilitate-Operate-Transfer model that focuses on existing non-functional water systems, especially in rural centers. To build local ownership and capacities, DHD is also training 2 community members per system to take over the management in the next 2 years after the rehabilitation costs have been repaid.



DARB is specialised in solar system cleaning solutions. Solar panels in Jordan and the region face large dust accumulation, which reduces the output power of the solar systems significantly. Automised cleaning systems with low water consumption are offered by DARB to improve the productivity of solar energy generation.
Decapolis is a Jordan-based leader in Food Safety and Quality traceability, provides a platform for ensuring the safety and quality of food for food producers, auditors, and regulatory agencies worldwide. Decapolis aims to enable food producers to provide premium goods for which the end-to-end supply and production chains comply with safety and quality control standards. Through data, a brand stamp on producer goods, Decapolis enables even smallholder farmers to produce in-demand, higher-quality crops and access new markets through a tiered Monthly Subscription platform.

By this, Dr. Waste aims to increase the end-user awareness of the risk of waste and encourage him/her to segregate organic waste from other kinds of waste in Iraq.



ECO Uga Pads are reusable, eco-friendly and affordable sanitary pads made out ofbanana stems that are usually let to rot. ECO UgaPads addresses the lack of safe menstrual hygiene among women in rural areas of Uganda who cannot afford commercial sanitary pads. ECO Uga Pads was part of the Young Water Solutions Fellowship 2019.

EnviEco is a social enterprise that works to clean up polluted streets and drainage systems in order to improve the well-being of local populations.



F3 Life provides agricultural loans to small holder farmers in Kenya. The company incorporates requirements in the loan terms and a credit-scoring system for soil and water conservation which improve watershed services.



FarMed is a web mobile application designed for Tunisian farmers who have access to the internet and are searching for a secure place to sell, rent, and buy agricultural products and materials. The start-up aims at creating an extended community of farmers and other citizens involved in exchanging products, materials, and experiences for combating water scarcity and climate change.



Flowless is a WaterTech provider that helps water utilities and farmers win on optimizing water daily operations and detecting faults in their water system through a smart AI-powered app for real-time monitoring and control automation. Fruilter is a start-up that offers a treatment device system for the reuse of greywater coming from the bathroom sinks, to flush toilet water. The startup is based in Tunisia and aims at reserving water resources, protecting the environment, and reducing water costs by reducing the amount of water utilized from drinking to discharge.



GEANS is a business that offers a low-cost septic tank emptying service to its subscribers and a reliable source of business to partnering vacuum truck owners.



GREEN GARDEN aims at addressing organic waste challenges in Mosul through innovative vermicomposting methods. The startup offers the service of organic waste removal from poor areas for free and from high-end areas for a suitable fee. Moreover, they transport, separate and process organic waste into valuable compost material demanded by local farmers, owners of agricultural materials stores, and owners of nurseries.



Gasia Poa is a waste management company operating in the slum area of Kisumu, Kenya. Founded in 2017, the business delivers hygienic and safe pit-emptying services to low-income communities. Gasia Poa provides professionalized manual pit-emptying services that employ the use of the PuPu Pump and a fecal sludge transportation truck. GP safely and hygienically empties pits and safely transports the fecal sludge to designated treatment facilities at a cost of only Kes. 6,000/trip for the pit-emptying service.

It is a social business specialising in the upcycling, recycling, and repurposing of materials into beautiful and decorative traditional and modern handicrafts. It works to empower young, creative people in Iraq by embracing their ideas and providing a platform to present themselves.



Due to thee concurent waste crisis in Lebanon, Green Mount Recycling partners with municipalities for a decentralized waste management to clean its areas of operation through a community-based approach and to promote sustainable living



Green Track focuses on behaviour change in solid waste management for Jabal Mohsen’s (in Tripoli) residents. Two teams are formed: Green Women, who raise the awareness about waste segregation into recyclables and non-recyclables, and Green Men, who sort the recyclables into its respective categories and sell it. Around 600 apartments have been served so far with trash bins, and soon, more will come, not only for Jabal Mohsen, but also for other districts as well! Green Track believes that trash can be a socializing facilitator for neighbourhoods at dispute.



GreenPads addresses the problem of inaccessible sanitary products in rural Nigeria. GreenPads aims to produce eco-friendly sanitary pads made from local materials with the main raw material being plantain and banana stems.



Greeners is a Palestinian startup, that uses CO2 emissions to create eco-friendly sustainable fertilizers through a patented formula, which helps in reducing the amount of air pollution and provides farmers with effective fertilizers that are safe for the soil, the water, and most importantly to their health.

KomLori delivers raw water to community water treatment points using a cargo tricycle (commonly referred to as a Motorking). KomLori rents out Motorkings at a low weekly rate (below market rate) to drivers in exchange for 2 daily water deliveries. The raw water is then sold at the water points at a low fee, enabling community water treatment points to re-sell the treated water with a small margin. KomLori is also piloting a rent-to-own model where drivers can own the Motorking after a year of weekly rental of the vehicle. KomLori aims to become an independent social enterprise but is currently developed by Saha Global.

KomLori delivers raw water to community water treatment points using a cargo tricycle (commonly referred to as a Motorking).
